TRICKS AND TIPS TO POSTING YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING PHOTOS
I was recently sitting around thinking about what I could write my next blog on. Some of you may know, but most of you probably don’t…. I am also a photographer (in all my free time). Yesterday, we received a photo from a customer of his recent proposal. We love to receive these photos- and it makes us so excited to see the ring of your dreams come to life by getting engaged. But, this photo got me thinking… what is the best way to take photos and post them on social media?
When I got engaged (almost 13 years ago) social media was NOT a thing. If you wanted to see my ring- you had to come check it out on my hand and in person. But, things have definitely changed and social media is the newest (and quickest) way to share all those exciting moments happening in your life!
Here are a few quick simple tricks and tips to posting those exciting engagement ring photos.
- Don’t share a blurry photo- Take LOTS of options and take your time. We know you are excited to share… but, wait for that perfect photo. Find the perfect background and be patient. It’s best to share one photo (not a whole collage). Besides, your BFF and Mom- no one wants to be inundated with a million ring shots. Pick one to share and and let it stand out!
- Do share a close up of that ring! Lighting is everything… if you aren’t outside get close to a window so you have some natural light. Experiment with the angle of your shot to get the best sparkle of that diamond. If you got engaged over a romantic candlelit dinner- it may be best to wait until the next day. In my opinion (remember I’m a photographer) the best light will be outside on a cloudy day when you will benefit from the natural light (without the shadows). Also, PLEASE make sure your nails are done! 🙂
- Always tag your Jeweler! If ever there were a time to be emotional, romantic and weepy, it’s now. Write that caption about marrying your best friend, soul mate, and lover… but, don’t forget to tag @windycitydiamonds so we can share your love story also!
