JUNE BIRTHSTONES
Happy June! With June, comes the anticipation and excitement of summer. School is ending and the kids are getting ready to enjoy the sunshine and weeks outside! We look forward to backyard BBQs, going to the beach, sleeping in, and calmer days laying in the sun with a good book.
June Birthdays, claim two birthstones: pearl and Alexandrite. Pearls have been very popular in jewelry for centuries. When I think of pearls, regal and sophisticated come to mind, but they can just as easily be fun and cheerful. Alexandrite gemstones are rare and desirable because they change color in different lighting. They are rare and can be extremely beautiful!
I think pearls have a little bit of a preconceived notion of grandmas and very formal occasions. In order to breakdown some stereotypes, I just want to let you all know that I wore a fun pearl necklace out this past Saturday night with a pair of jeans! Pearls can be worn for all occasions and by any age! Don’t get me wrong, pearls are still perfect for those summer weddings as well!
If you ask most people on the street what color a pearl is, I’m pretty sure 99% of the time the answer will be a description of the typical, classic, white pearl. But, SURPRISE! Pearls can come in many different colors. You will be shocked to see how many unique colors are available. I would definitely suggest coming into ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø to check out the different options and pick a color that you would most enjoy! Pearls don’t just have to be a necklace, pearls can be used in rings, earrings and bracelets as well!
Alexandrite is a very special gemstone. It can change colors depending on the light you are standing in. Outside it tends to look bluish and inside in can change to a red gem. The value of each gemstone will increase depending on how apparent the change is.
The story behind the discovery of Alexandrite is an interesting one. It wasn’t discovered until the 19th century and the story goes like this… Miners were working in the emerald mines (in Russia’s Ural Mountains). As one miner finished collecting his “emeralds” for the day he was sitting next to the fire that night they were shining a bright red! When it came to the sunlight in the morning- the gems had turned back to green. The Miner then realized he collected some color changing new gems!

Alexandrite has been said to bring good luck, fortune and love. ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø would love to help you create a custom June Birthday piece of jewelry using the exquisite Alexandrite! Come in today and we can show you the magic in these stones!
