DECEMBER ROMANCE
December Romance Engagement
According to the knot’s ninth annual Real Weddings study, December Romance is in the air. Exactly 16% of all marriage proposals take place in the Month of December and in fact the most popular day to propose is December 24th, Christmas Eve, with December 25th, Christmas day as number 2! These facts are reported by Facebook whose users, over 1 billion of them, love to report their relationship status.
Facebook monitors relationship status and they have provided a list of options that now include; “single”, “in relationship”, “engaged”, “married”, “in a civil union”, “in a domestic partnership”, “in an open relationship”, “it’s complicated”, “separated”, “divorced”, and “widowed”. Wheh! What a collection of ways to state your relationship.
Romance and Weddings
In case you’re wondering, New Years Day is the number 3 day for most weddings, followed close behind by Valentines day. A full 30% of all “engaged” users of Facebook will change their status during November and December.
As long as we’re talking statistics a little bit, Can you Guess what month’s have the most weddings?
Engagement
If you guessed October, which is at 17% of yearly weddings you’re correct, with September, (15%) not far behind. According to The Knot, the average age for marrying of those surveyed was 29 for the bride and 31 for the groom, but that does not jive with what Facebook users say. The average age for newly engaged couples on Facebook is 24, which would put the average marrying age at about 25. Was your’s a December Romance as well??
